Story behind this picture:

This portrait belongs to the serie called "Disappear". Three portraits where I wanted to bring in focus the taboo of "death", the fear of it - but also create an expression of ponder - because we will all disappear one day so: Carpe diem.

I made the original piece as a freestitch portrait embroidery on water soluble fabric - I thereafter washed away the fabric, left with only the black threads.
These I dried and framed between two glass sheets. Bring parallels to the fact that my fabric disappear and we as well will disappear one day. Each portrait contains a QR code, as an earring who you can scan and listen to. The audio file is either a poetry slam called "When I Grow Old" by Sara Hauge, who is a writer and winner of several Danish poetry slam competitions. The other audio file, is a whisper conversation in a church, between me and an anonymous friend, where we discuss the fear of death.

The original piece is sold, so this a print on glass of my threads.
