This piece is from my exclusive edition of Giclée prints* of Regimentets Datter.

numbered to a maximum of 75 pieces in the size: 60x100 cm and 75 in the size
36x60 cm.
Story behind the creation:
I created this piece during my artist-in-residence stay in 2025 at the The Fat Eye
Gallery. I only decided on the motif once I arrived, choosing to work with the image of
a woman wrapped in shades of yellow. A decision that quickly proved to be a bit of a
challenge. The womans figure is inspired by a photo I found in an old nude book from
the late 1920 ́s.
In my yellow process, I had to sacrifice the gallery owner’s blouse, dishcloths, and a
few other textiles, just to gather enough variations of yellow. I suppose that’s part of
the principle when you insist on not using paint or traditional drawing in your work.
The piece gradually took on a life of its own, the “blanket” growing longer and longer
and more expansive. As the work is made as a paper and textile collage, sewn
together I framed her between two sheets of glass, allowing the woman to remain partially transparent and kinda floting on the top.
The title, Regimentets Datter, derives from the inclusion of fragments from an old
sheet music collection of the opera originally named “La fille du régiment”, which I cut
and stitched into the work, making the title itself visible within the piece. A thing I often
do.
Beside the transparent original and the giclée prints I have also created a small
series of mixed media originals based on this motif, where the yellow is removed and
and made with new colors and forms, while the woman continues to rest in the same
position.
